Braile Signage and Tactile Signs

A tactile sign means that the images or lettering on a sign have been slightly raised so that the reader is able to feel for the particular lettering.  Braille signage is printed using raised Braille enabling the reader to feel the words written.  The signs are printed in white against a coloured background to allow those with partial sight to distinguish the signs against white or light coloured walls.

Our Braille and tactile signs are manufactured using a highly durable photopolymer substrate. Each character is formed directly on the surface of the sign, which means that they cannot be picked, peeled or detached. The result is a superior sign with clean, crisp and non-rounded edges, which can be easily read by both sight and touch.

Our standard range of Braille and tactile signs includes door signs for room id and toilets, lift signs, reception signs, warning signs, fire signs, first aid signs and mandatory signs. The majority of signs we sell encompass both Braille and tactile elements but it is possible to have one or the other.  We also supply businesses with bespoke signage in a range of colours and sizes for various applications.

In 2004 under the DDA it became necessary for all businesses to make “reasonable adjustments” to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access.  Adding Braille and tactile signs are considered “reasonable adjustments.”

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 part III declares for service providers to discriminate against a disabled person is unlawful. Not all blind people read Braille but with tactile safety signs and Braille signage you are complying with the DDA regulations.

Although you don't legally have to have Braille and other different formats the information you need to convey must be available to visually impaired clientele in some way. A member of your staff could read to the customer, however, alternative systems such as Braille signage and tactile signage provide a positive method of complying with the legal requirements.

At Facilities Buyer we comprehend the legal requirements that businesses must adhere to and we can provide you with all the signage needed. We have a broad and excellent selection for you to choose from and our prices are competitive. We offer you excellent customer services and if you have any questions or queries on any of our products please contact us and a member of our knowledgeable team will be more than happy to help you.

Offering a superior selection of signs and signage services to a diverse array of clients with different needs and requirements, here at Facilities Buyer you can discover a comprehensive selection of competitively priced signs designed for any purpose. The tactile signs that are displayed on our site are specially manufactured to provide quick and easy identification of warnings and labelling around the office and workplace and can be ordered to fit your businesses specific needs.
